I meant to write this blog a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, but I never got around to it. Since then, the internet has blown up with the advent of Baby Yoda and the ensuing memes. The world is awakening to something I already knew: memes and GIF’s involving Yoda (and, evidently, his offspring) are funnier than all other memes and GIF’s. No one can change my mind.
First, it’s worth noting that meme-ology has taken over the internet for quite some time now. I don’t even want to know how many mindless hours I have spent scrolling through my Instagram seeing memes, pictures of other peoples’ kids, more memes, memes, more memes, and more pictures of other peoples’ kids that are really taking away from all the funny memes! I have even taken it upon myself to learn the craft of meme-making and have earned the respect of my colleagues and coworkers as an expert in meme-ology.
Sometimes my memes use classic templates, like “Girl Watching House Burn Down” or “Woman Yelling at Cat.” Other times I find pictures of the target of my humor on their Facebook or other images in Google image search to act as a meme-God and a Creator of new templates. Inspiration strikes often, and most memes are well-received. But no memes are better-received than those that include Yoda, the shriveled, green Martian-like Star Wars character with uncanny speech and supernatural abilities. Why is that?
Well, speak like this, Yoda does. Funny that is. Get old it never does.
More importantly, Yoda is funny-looking and cute. Just one look at that wrinkled face inspires a chuckle and some nostalgia. Only boring, fun-hating people hated Star Wars. People that never saw it respect it. You’d need to be a real curmudgeon otherwise.
Videos including Yoda are often succinct but draw great laughter. Like this one. It’s six seconds long and it is the funniest thing I have ever seen on the internet:

This one of Yoda singing to Luke is maybe #2 best internet sensation ever:

Recently, Baby Yoda was berthed in a new Star Wars series called “The Mandalorian.” Again, internet dwellers’ nostalgia kicked in. Plus, Baby Yoda is adorably cute. And the memes are so popular that they are even being blended into cat photos and cat memes:

So take your “Distracted Boyfriend,” your “Bird Box Blindfolded” and your “Surprised Pikachu” and shove it. There’s a new Sheriff in town, and his name is Yoda/Baby Yoda.
